Australian Clyde Sefton
Fiorella Mocassini Citroen Pro Cycling Team (Italy) - 1977-78
A small Italian team with a limited focus. Biggest claim to fame being two starts at the Tour of Italy (1977 & 78). No guidance on sponsorship origins except Citroen obviously did the team cars, Clement the tyres, Alan the Italian framesets & Parentini the clothing. The Alan framesets were innovative as they were aluminium, but they had serious “bottom bracket sway” … like a palm tree in a firm breeze (looked great, but they really didn’t work).
Team members settled on a narrow few - winners being Bernt Johannsen, Carlo Barone, and Giovanni Battaglin. Team contributions from Josef Fuchs and outright Aussie legend in Victorian Clyde Sefton (Silver medallist in Munich Olympic Games Road Race 1972).
