Magniflex Pro Cycling Team (Italy) - 1973-87
Title sponsors were Magniflex Italian mattresses with either Olmo, Alan, Torpado or Rossin (all Italian) supplying the bikes. Secondary sponsors were Famcucine (kitchens) & Centroscarpa.
The team went for over a decade but victories were restricted to random stage wins in Grand Tours (mostly the Giro). Pierino Gavazzi (pictured above) was a pure sprinter and took a great victory in Milan San Remo in 1980 plus a win in Paris Brussels and several Giro stages. Numerous classy support riders in Bernt Johanssen, Paolo Rosola (another sprinter), Vittorio Algeri and a youthful Franco Ballerini (future winner of Paris Roubaix with team Mapei)
